An Evening To Remember

I was in a meeting yesterday and the Engineer that convened the meeting made an impression on me. One of the many things that stood out for me was his boldness and sheer determination to make a difference. He mentioned how many people make the mistake of thinking success meant having an edge over a colleague or former classmate; not true. He defined success as finding out your purpose and fulfilling/completing it. He has started several businesses and is vigorously involved with youths especially drug addicts and prostitutes. He spoke of how he would confront them some times and ask them bluntly “how bad are you?” before giving them his own “resume”. In most cases, none of them had done as much drugs, porn, slept with or killed as many people as he had. On hearing his story, most of them said “ha? Me I be saint be that o (wow, I must be a saint then)”

One day, he was recounting how he had personally killed about nine people before it dawned on him that the number wasn’t accurate. Thing is, when he was being initiated into the cult he had belonged to, all members cut themselves and bled into a bowl which they all drank from afterwards. Thus, when one person kills, all killed. In essence, he had killed too many people to recount. A week or so before his life took a different turn, he told someone “I think I must be a god because on about four occasions, people in my vicinity are either killed just before I arrive or just after I left” – he said this based on the fact that he did rituals he believed averted his death several times.

When God arrested him like the biblical Paul, he questioned why he did not die after taking so many lives. God told him “I marked you when you were ten years old…” and he remembered accepting the altar call at Bishop Benson Idahosa’s crusade in TBS, Lagos. Those words, spoken in acceptance of Jesus as his Lord and Saviour, set him apart. God made him to understand that the wrong environment and negative influence caused him to go off course.

After his encounter with God, he was angry at his campus fellowships because no one had preached to him. One of those he challenged said “We were afraid of you. You threatened lecturers and often moved around armed…”. It was obvious that he wanted to do now, what he wished someone did to him then - tell him the truth. Amidst his talk, he paused and said “by the way, is there anyone here who has not given his life to Christ?”...when no one indicated, he pointed at someone among the about 20-30 people in attendance and said “have you received Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour?” He then continued when the person answered in the affirmative. The talk centered around the King, His Kingdom and The Royal Family. He couldn’t say too much for want of time but made sure to emphasize the need to study the King, his Kingdom and the privileges of being the King’s Child.

Seems to me, the decisions we make because we feel we are now adults should not be unbecoming of us as children of God. Children are accountable to fathers and He is our Heavenly Father. I may be wrong but I don't think any pastor or spiritual leader will stand on behalf of any church member before God on the day of judgement; this informs me that the race of life is personal; very personal. Our choices on this side of eternity will matter for all of eternity. Whilst we have been deputized to dominate this earth, it behoves us to bear in mind that life itself is transient. That said, if you’re reading this and you are very sure that you don’t need to accept Jesus into your life or don’t believe He is THE Way, Truth and Life; I wish you would have seen how upset the brother I just spoke about was with those around him that knew the truth and never told him. So, if you change your mind and would want to be sure about your eternal salvation, please say the confession below with all sincerity and confidence along with those reading this who know deep down that they need Him as their Lord and personal Saviour:

Heavenly Father, I come to you today in the name of Jesus. I am a sinner and cannot help myself. I believe with all my heart, that Jesus died for me, that He was buried for me and that He rose triumphantly for me! Forgive me all my sins. Cleanse me with the precious blood of your son, Jesus. Deliver me from sin and Satan to serve you, the true and living God. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank you for saving me! I am born again. I believe that I’m now your true child, in Jesus mighty name. 1

If you prayed the above prayer sincerely, welcome to a life of victory as a child of the living God. Like the brother I spoke about above, you have been set apart by God. If you need further instruction on this pathway of life, please locate a Bible believing church around you or online. We could also connect on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

Thanks for reading; God bless you.

The message below is for those people on your contact list that you do not want to block but would prefer they would simply #ForwardWisely.

Thank you for keeping in touch via this platform.

I appreciate that you want me to be informed and "current" but please, when it comes to broadcasts and forwarded messages, kindly do me a favour by NOT sending such messages to me especially when such posts are words, photos or videos that contain the below:

1. Negative news that increase fear and unnecessary suspicion in the name of “security alert”.
It's even more annoying when such a message has been making rounds before I left school.  ("Yobe is boiling..." e still neva done?) Avoid Lagos-Epe road now, blah blah blah ...oh please!
At least confirm the validity of the message before forwarding...IF you have to forward it.
I hope you know pictures can be doctored and videos can be acted?

2. Nudity, vulgar language or coarse jokes that have a tendency to pollute the mind.
Some jokes, especially sex "jokes" are simply the stench announcing the depraved state of someone's mind.

3. Messages that have a “clause” (or curse) that if I don’t forward to 15 people within 15 minutes...yeah right! I will so "break the chain"
"Some Christians are about to be executed in..."? Do we really need a "Guilt Pill" before knowing we need to pray without ceasing?

4. Jokes or statements about this country that makes saying the National Pledge look like a huge waste of time.
Don't you think what you are saying should be along the lines of what you are praying?

5. "Prayers" that look more like an incantation from a shrine.

6. Posts that can incite religious or tribal sentiments. Wars have been started because of "mere" words.

7. Posts that involve God and the devil in a conversation...dem be mates? (BTW, my name is not Job)
Then there are those between Satan and his demons. Biko, were you in attendance ni?

Please note that the list above is not exhaustive.

In summary, just #ForwardWisely period! If it irritates or annoys you, most likely I would feel the same.

Thank you.

Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. (Psalm 103:1-5)

Father, I thank you because it is your desire that I enjoy good health and that all may go well with me, even as my soul is getting along well. (3 John 2)

My Lord Jesus was pierced for my transgressions, he was crushed for my iniquities; the punishment that brought me peace and healing was upon him. Jesus himself bore my sins in his body on the cross, so that I might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds I have been healed. Jesus already took every pain, suffering, disease or disorder no matter its origin or length of stay. Therefore, sickness of any kind is no longer permitted to manifest in my body. (Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24)

The Lord will keep me free from every disease. He will not inflict on me any of the horrible diseases known in the world today. (Deuteronomy 7:15)

“I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord”. (Jeremiah 30:17)

“And these signs will accompany those who believe:……when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all”. (Mark 16:17-18)

I decree that I will not be a victim of the effects of fake and counterfeit drugs. I will not be a victim of adverse drug reactions. God’s blessing is on the food and water I ingest. I will not be a victim of any nutritional disorder. (Exodus 23:25)

I dwell in the secret place of the Most High, I will not be a partaker of the pestilence or epidemic diseases that stalk in the darkness, nor the plague or pandemic that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at my side, ten thousand at my right hand, but it will not come near me. (Psalm 91:4-8)

I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. (Psalm 118:17)

God has promised me a full life span; my strength will equal my days. I will flourish like a palm tree, I will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, I will flourish in the courts of my God. Even unto old age, I will stay fresh and green. (Psalm 92:12-14)

These words that I speak are guaranteed to bring health to my whole body and nourishment to my bones since it is the promise of God sealed with the blood of Jesus. (Proverbs 3:8; 4:20-22)

And because the Spirit of God is living in me, He will also give life to my mortal body making my body as alive as Christ’s. (Romans 8:11)

Amen and amen.

A car in need of alignment, pulls off center and is more than likely to vibrate strangely on the road.
Such a car may still move but it tells on the tires over time.

6 Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; The fear of the Lord is His treasure.
Isaiah 33:6

If left unchecked, a plane off course by just a few degrees at the beginning of the journey, may arrive at a different destination.
it is wisdom to ensure constant course correction on life's journey.

21 “Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you. 22 Receive, please, instruction from His mouth, and lay up His words in your heart. 23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up; You will remove iniquity far from your tents.
Job 22:21-23

3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3

3 Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; 4 By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
Proverbs 24:3-4
