The Word of God is not merely something we read to evaluate the world around us; it is also a mirror through which we must examine ourselves.
It reveals, corrects, challenges, and transforms. When its truth confronts our lives, the first response should not be to question the Word but to honestly examine the person looking into it. Sometimes, the change we seek begins with the reflection staring back at us.
The Word is like a mirror. The Word works.
If it's not working, look in the mirror.

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
James 1:23-25 (NIV)
